Dammam and the causeway to Bahrain

Just arrived yesterday to Dammam just after the F1 race was finished in Bahrain. That's the closest I've ever been to F1 race. That'll do for me :)

Dammam is the biggest city of the Eastern providence of KSA. It's grown together with several cities, Jubail, Al Khobar, Dhahran to name a few. The Eastern providence is the major industrial are in KSA and especially oil plays the major role.

This is the home of the biggest oil company in the world: Saudi Aramco. Its presence shows in every day life.  Saudi Aramco being a huge a company it employs a lot of expats from all the around the world.
A lot of western expats choose to live in Bahrain and work here in the Dammam area. As Bahrain is basically an island they built a 25km causeway from Bahrain to KSA. Not for the expats but for Bahrain being so-called little of brother of Saudi Arabia who mostly protects Bahrain from outside and inside issues.

Furthermore this causeway is the pleasure for many western expats working here. There can be several reasons but by looking from where I stand the most obvious reason must be: You can get a decent beer from Bahrain :)

PS Tomorrow is off to Dubai then and in Friday it's Mänttä again :)
